First scribbles of the year..

Haven’t written much on here lately. Here are some late evening scribbles.. It’s currently untitled..

Sometimes struggles shout louder than they shouldForgetting how far you’ve come

Times of feeling stuck.
But oh daughter of mine you’ve yet

to see the places you’ll go.

For in the struggle you are stronger

than you realise
Don’t loose heart

Remember whose you are!

Where you are now is not the end of the

Story
There are more pages to be woven

into this beautiful tapestry

His love for you runs deep.
Even if at times it feels distant

He’s got your back

Right alongside you.

Every tear that falls down your face

When you feel moments of despair

When things seem so uncertain
Know that it’s who you are that

matters most

Keep that bright spark of encouragement

Don’t loose sight of that
Lift your head up and smile

For you are beloved of the King

and He delights in you.

Some moments are like mountains. When we’ve got to climb through some hard times.
Often travel difficult roads

That may be long journeys

or short ones.
But when we reach the top

What was once before us

becomes clearer.
Towards a new understanding

A realisation that

We are so much stronger than we think we are.
And that by looking back

How He has carried us through

the toughest of times

And never left

and He never will.

[sonder] a poem

Sonder

n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.

Sonder

Moments eclipsing

New beginnings

Or maybe the middle

For others endings
All beautiful in their own way.

For we are sometimes; mere footnotes

In other people’s stories.

Staying only for a moment

Others for a longer while.

More reason to treasure those near and dear…
also those passing through.

For in all seasons we can learn from each other.

Even when things can feel a little crazy at times..

Often it’s in those crazy times when it’s most beautiful.

Generosity

I’ve been pondering on writing a blog post about this topic for a long while now. Generosity is something which is incredibly important to me…so much so that it is a part of me and something completely normal to me.

But over the years I’ve realised that not everyone sees it in the same way. I’ll often travel to see friends that live far away and also give little gifts to friends just because…

“There is a mystery about generosity. If you see it with your human eyes you might think that you lose—position, recognition, resources—when you give away what you have to others… but God that is wise; always rewards the giver in ways we cannot explain.”
JA Perez

This quote explains so well how generosity works in my mind.. I never once feel like I have lost anything when I give to others..

And so does this one!

“One of the first conditions of happiness is the ability to take pleasure in other people’s happiness.”
Marty Rubin

I feel quite sad when I’m told off sometimes for doing this..but what people don’t realise is that giving is something kind of instinctive in me..a part of me and one of my love languages.. Which also goes someway to explain why I am a giver. When I am told off it feels to me like I am being told off for being myself..which I find a bit odd. But part of the reason that happens is because random acts of kindness and gifts are not normal in our society.

Even when I know that someone would not do the same for me. That doesn’t stop me giving towards that person after all even though generosity is important to me not everyone sees generosity the way I do but that’s ok. We are not all made to be carbon copies of each other. After all I don’t give with the expectation of getting any thing back.

“That’s what I consider true generosity: You give your all, and yet you always feel as if it costs you nothing.”
Simone de Beauvoir

Where as for me it is normal..

One last word from a wise man..
“You make all kinds of mistakes, but as long as you are generous and true and also fierce, you cannot hurt the world or even seriously distress her.”
Winston S. Churchill

[I may add to this later]
